Everything you need to know to get the most out of Duely

📧 Your Unique Email Address

When you create a Duely account, you automatically receive a unique forwarding email address. This is your personal inbox for tracking items automatically.

What does it look like?

Your unique email is a randomly generated address that looks like this:

The format is: [8 random characters]@inbound.getduely.app

This random format ensures your email address is completely private and can't be guessed by anyone.

Where to find it

  1. Open the Duely app
  2. Go to the Dashboard screen
  3. Look for "Your forwarding email" card
  4. Tap to copy it to your clipboard

Pro Tip: Save this email address to your contacts so you can easily forward emails to it!

Verified Sender Emails

For security, Duely only processes emails forwarded from email addresses you've verified. This prevents unauthorized emails from being added to your account.

What are verified sender emails?

These are the email addresses YOU use to forward subscription receipts. When you forward an email, Duely checks if it came from one of your verified addresses.

How to add verified emails

  1. Open the Duely app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap Verified Emails
  4. Tap Add Email
  5. Enter your email address (e.g., your Gmail, iCloud, etc.)
  6. Check your inbox for a verification code
  7. Enter the code to verify

Important: Emails forwarded from unverified addresses will be rejected. Make sure to verify all email accounts you plan to forward from!

📨 Email Forwarding

Email forwarding is the easiest way to add items to Duely. Simply forward your subscription receipts and our AI extracts all the details automatically.

How it works

  1. Receive a subscription receipt or confirmation email
  2. Forward it to your unique Duely address
  3. AI extracts the service name, price, billing cycle, and renewal date
  4. Item appears in your app within seconds
  5. Original email is discarded (only extracted data is saved)

Setting up automatic forwarding

For hands-free tracking, set up automatic forwarding rules in your email provider. We have detailed guides for:

Privacy First: We only store the extracted subscription data (name, price, dates). The original email content is processed by AI and then immediately discarded.

Security Note: Never forward emails containing sensitive information like passwords, social security numbers, or full credit card numbers. Duely's AI is designed to ignore such data, but it's best not to forward them at all.

Quick Add Feature

Quick Add lets you add popular services with pre-filled information in just a few taps.

How to use Quick Add

  1. Tap the + button on the Items screen
  2. Select Quick Add
  3. Browse or search for a service (Netflix, Spotify, etc.)
  4. Tap to select - details are pre-filled!
  5. Adjust the price and renewal date if needed
  6. Tap Save

What's pre-filled?

Pro Tip: Quick Add is perfect for adding subscriptions you already have but haven't received a recent email for.

✏️ Manual Tracking

For complete control, you can add any item manually with custom details.

How to add manually

  1. Tap the + button
  2. Select Add Manually
  3. Enter the item details:
    • Name: Service or item name
    • Category: Choose the best fit
    • Amount: The recurring cost
    • Currency: USD, EUR, etc.
    • Billing Cycle: Monthly, Yearly, etc.
    • Renewal Date: Next payment date
    • Notes: Any additional info (optional)
  4. Toggle Free Trial if applicable
  5. Tap Save

When you add items via email forwarding, our AI automatically assigns the most appropriate category. You can always change it manually.

📊 Usage Limits & Fair Use

To ensure a great experience for everyone and prevent abuse, Duely has the following limits:

Rate limits (abuse prevention)

To protect our service from abuse, we have the following rate limits:

Excessive requests 100+ requests per hour 24-hour IP block
Abuse score threshold 25 points 24-hour account suspension
Severe abuse 50 points Account ban (review required)

Abuse scoring: Repeated rate limit violations, forwarding spam/phishing emails, or suspicious activity will add points to your abuse score. Points decay by 1 per day with no incidents. Normal usage will never trigger these limits.

What counts as abuse?

Normal users won't be affected. These limits are designed to stop bots and bad actors. Regular usage - even heavy usage - is perfectly fine!
